NOTE:
The following periods are subject of modification in any time, therefore, it is preferable for the interested physicians to inquire from the Secretariat General of Jordan Medical Council to keep up with the updates or view this site from time to time to be acknowledged of any modifications.
1- INTERNAL MEDICINE:
Do four training years.
·
Dermatology and Veneriology:
Do one training year in Internal Medicine and three training years in Dermatology and Veneriology.
·
Gastroenterology:
Do three training years in Internal Medicine, and then do another three training years in Gastroenterology.
·
Neurology:
Do one training year in Internal Medicine, and then continue in the training program in Neurology and obtain the sub specialization certificate.
·
Nephrology:
Do Full training in Internal Medicine and programmed training in the specialization of Nephrology in a recognized educational hospital for the purposes of specialization training for a period not less than two years.
·
Haematology and Oncology:
Do three training years in Internal Medicine, and then continue in the training program in Haematology and Oncology.
·
Chest Diseases:
Obtain Jordan Medical Council Certificate or an equivalent in Internal Medicine, and then continue in the training program in Chest Diseases.
·
Endocrinology:
Do three training years in Internal Medicine and two years in Endocrinology.
·
Autoimmunity:
Do three training years in Internal Medicine, and then continue in the training program in Autoimmunity and obtain the sub specialization certificate.
·
Rheumatology:
Do three training years in Internal Medicine, and then continue in the training program in Rheumatology and obtain the sub specialization certificate.
·
Infectious Diseases:
Do three training years in Internal Medicine, and then continue in the training program in Infectious Diseases and obtain the sub specialization certificate.
2- GENERAL SURGERY:
Do four training years, two of them in General Surgery and two in the various
branches of General Surgery.

Plastic Surgery:
Do at least three training years in General Surgery and two years in Plastic Surgery. Moreover, the specialized physician must have a good knowledge and experience during his studying and training in the following subjects:-
1- The basics of Plastic Sugery.
2- Head and neck surgery, which includes injuries, wounds, facial fractures, (lip, face, and external ear deformities), the seventh root surgery, and tumours.
3- Breast surgery.
4- The deformities of the bladder, the urethra and the reproductive system.

Cardiothoracic Surgery
1- Four-year-residency in General Surgery.
2- The Jordanian Board in General Surgery or an equivalent.
3- Training in Chest Surgery for a period not less than two years in a recognized center in a condition that the training includes surgery of the chest wall, lungs, esophagus and mediastinum with an experience certificate approving that the physician have had, at least, twenty surgeries as a surgeon and not as an assistant.

Peripheral Vascular Surgery:
1- Four-year-residency in General Surgery.
2- The Jordanian Board in General Surgery or an equivalent.
3- Training in Vascular Surgery for not less than two years in a recognized center in a condition that the training includes arterial surgery in limbs, chest, abdomen and neck with an experience certificate approving that the physician have had, at least, twenty surgeries as a surgeon not as an assistant.

Pediatric Surgery:
Do four training years in General Surgery and two years in Pediatric Surgery (at least one of which in neonatal surgery).
·
Colorectal Surgery:
1- Four training years in General Surgery.
2- The Jordan Medical Council Certificate in General Surgery or an equivalent.
3- At least one training year in an educational program and obtaining the higher certificate in the sub specialization.
3- GYNAECOLOGY AND OBSTETRICS:
Do four training years.
4- PEDIATRICS:
Do four training years inside Jordan or at least three training years if the
training is outside Jordan.
5- CARDIOLOGY:
Do three training years in Internal Medicine and three training years in
Cardiology or two training years in Internal Medicine and four training years
in Cardiology.
6- OPHTHALMOLOGY:
Do four training years.
7- ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY:
Do one training year in General Surgery and Four training years in
Orthopedic Surgery.
8- UROLOGY:
Do one training year in General Surgery and three training years in Urology
provided that the training must include all kinds and operations of Endoscopy
9- NEURO-SURGERY:
Do one training year in General Surgery and five training years in Neuro-
Surgery provided that the physician’s training must Include a good
knowledge and experience in the following sciences:-
1- Neurophysiology
2- Neuroanatomy
3- Neurointensive Care
4- Rehabilitation
5- Neurology
6- Neuropathology
7- Neuroradiology
8- Neuroanaesthesia
10- DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY:
Do four training years.
11- RADIOTHERAPY:
Do four training years.
12- OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY (EAR, NOSE & THROAT):
Do four training years.
13- LABORATORIES:
Laboratories specialization includes the following specializations:
A- Morbid Anatomy:
1- Histopathology.
2- Anatomy.
3- Cytology.
The physician must do:-
1- Four programmed training years in this science.
2- Or three training years in the above mentioned sciences and a one training year in the field of specialization, provided that he/she must do not less that fifty cases of autopsy in both cases.
B- Clinical Laboratories and it
includes:
1- Alkaline Chemistry
2- Haematology
3- Microbiology
4- Blood Banking
5- Immunity
6- Other sub subjects
The physician must do:
1- Not less than four programmed complete training years.
2- Or not less than two training years in all the branches of this specialization and not less than two training years in one of the branches.
C-
Morbid Anatomy and Clinical Laboratories:
Do not less than five programmed training years distributed as follows:-
1- Two basic training years in both specializations.
2- Three training years in either specialization.
14- ANAESTHESIA AND RESUSCITATION:
Do four training years.
15- FORENSIC MEDICINE
/ PATHOLOGY (CLINICAL
AND
TOXICOLOGY):
Do four training years.
16- COMMUNITY MEDICINE:
1- Doctorate certificate or The American Board or the British Fellowship.
2- Or specialization certificate in Community Medicine or one of its branches provided that the studying period of obtaining that certificate is not less than three years.
3- Or specialization certificate in Community Medicine or one of its branches provided that the studying period of obtaining that certificate is not less than two years and working in the field of specialization after obtaining the certificate for not less than two years.
4- Or specialization certificate in Community Medicine or one of its branches provided that the studying period of obtaining that certificate is not less than two years and working in the field of specialization after obtaining the certificate for not less than four years.
17- PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND
REHABILITATION:
1- Do four training years as follows:-
a. Six months in Internal Medicine.
b. Six months in Neurology.
c. Six months in Orthopedic Surgery.
2- Do two and a half training years in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
18- PSYCHIATRY:
Do four training years.
19- FAMILY MEDICINE:
Do four training years.
